Welcome Kyle Hagenburger as Executive Director

We are excited to share another important milestone for DUSC in the Club’s continued evolution.

Announcing Our New Executive Director - Kyle Hagenburger

Following an extensive and highly competitive national search process, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Kyle Hagenburger as the new Executive Director of the Downtown United Soccer Club.

The Board partnered with a leading executive search firm and engaged with nearly 100 candidates from across youth, collegiate, and professional soccer landscapes as well as educational establishments, nonprofits, collegiate athletics, and sports service organizations. After a rigorous evaluation process and multiple rounds of interviews, Kyle emerged as the clear choice to lead DUSC into its next chapter. Throughout the process, his deep thoughtfulness, measured composure, and demonstrated track record of team and community building consistently stood out. We believe these qualities are exactly what the Club needs at this moment in time. And Kyle shares our vision for the future of DUSC.

Kyle returns to DUSC having previously served as Director of College Placement, and brings with him a strong understanding of the Club’s mission, community, and values.

Most recently, Kyle served as Technical Director of ALBION SC Brooklyn, where he oversaw all technical and operational aspects of the club, including player pathways, coaching development, staffing, programming, and long-term strategic growth. During his tenure, he led one of the most significant periods of expansion in the club’s history, growing the competitive program from 6 to 33 teams while strengthening the infrastructure needed to sustain that growth.

In addition to his club leadership, Kyle served as National Director of College Placement and Elite Programs for ALBION Nation, supporting alignment and player development pathways across more than 25 affiliated clubs nationwide. Over the course of his career, he has helped hundreds of student-athletes continue their academic and athletic journeys at the collegiate level.

Kyle brings more than two decades of experience in youth soccer, having led programs, developed coaches, and built systems at the local, collegiate, and national levels. His background also includes collegiate coaching experience across NCAA, NAIA, and junior college programs, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the player pathway.

Beyond the field, Kyle offers a distinctive perspective shaped by fifteen years in education, where he served as a teacher, athletic director, instructional leader, and curriculum designer. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education, an MBA in Sporting Directorship, and USSF B License, along with multiple advanced coaching and leadership certifications, including the US Soccer Club Technical Leadership License and the United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Diploma.

Kyle lives in Brooklyn with his wife. Outside of soccer, he is an avid Everton supporter and enjoys cooking.

Kyle will officially step into his role on August 1. We will be setting up opportunities in the coming weeks for all members of the DUSC community who would like to meet him; additional details will be shared shortly.

We are excited to welcome Kyle back to DUSC and look forward to the leadership, care, and perspective he will bring to our community in the years ahead.
